Location

The nephrology and renal transplantation units

The nephrology and renal transplantation units of the Poitiers CHU are located at level -1 of Jean-Bernard, in the technical satellite, on the Milétrie site.

They are adjacent to the hemodialysis – continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis unit.
The nephrology and renal transplantation units medically treat patients with kidney diseases (acute or chronic renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, proteinuria, etc…) or general diseases with renal damage (autoimmune and metabolic diseases, malignant hemopathies…).

The hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis unit 

The hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis unit of the Poitiers CHU is located at level -1 of Jean-Bernard, in the technical satellite, on the Milétrie site.

It is adjacent to the nephrology and renal transplantation units.
The dialysis unit (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis) treats patients with severe chronic renal failure.

Capacity

The nephrology and renal transplantation units

  • The hospital care section contains 9 individual  rooms,
  • The day hospital section contains 3 beds.

The hemodialysis unit

  • The hemodialysis room contains 19 stations divided into 5 sub-sections, as well as 2 stations for acute and/or temporary hemodialysis.
  • Each section is placed under the responsibility of a nurse who admits patients with the help of a nursing assistant.

Activity

Each year on the average, the units carry out:

  • more than 6000 consultations
  • nearly 16500 stays
  • nearly 5500 hospitalization days  
  • 65 kidney transplants 
  • nearly 16 000 dialyses (with an active line of approximately 25 patients)
