LES TUMEURS CÉRÉBRALES

Recherche bio médicale

La pathologie tumorale cérébrale est l’un des axes de recherche bio médicale privilégié par le CHU de Poitiers. Cette recherche s’effectue dans le cadre de l’équipe Inserm 935 du professeur Ali Thuran : «cellules souches malignes et hématopoièse»

C’est pour permettre ces travaux de recherche qu’un fragment de chaque tumeur opérée est conservé, sous réserve de l’accord expresse de chaque patient opéré, dans la tumorothèque du CHU de Poitiers, placée sous la direction du professeur Pierre Levillain du service d’anatomie pathologique, et du docteur Lucie Karayan-Tapon, du service d’oncologie biologique.

Les patients opérés bénéficient des moyens diagnostiques les plus récents, grâce à la plateforme hospitalière de génétique moléculaire des cancers du CHU de Poitiers, labellisée par l’Institut du cancer (Inca).

Les travaux réalisés dans ce domaine bénéficient de l’expertise scientifique et du soutien logistique du centre d’investigation clinique du CHU de Poitiers labellisé par l’Inserm. Ces travaux font l’objet de publications régulières dans des revues médicales et scientifiques nationales et internationales.

Le CHU de Poitiers participe également sur ce thème à des collaborations nationales et internationales.
