The unit is certified for the training of specialists in nephrology and clinical immunology. .
The unit receives:
- doctors in training: interns, medical students
- caregivers undergo training: nursing students, care assistant students;

RESEARCH TASKS
The main themes of the basic and and clinical research conducted in this unit are:
- Immunosuppressive therapies in renal transplantation and autoimmune diseases
- Kidney disease related to monoclonal gammapthies: AL amyloidosis and other monoclonal immunoglobulin deposition diseases (rare disease reference center, PHRC, CNRS UMR unit 6101 – Limoges)
- Ischemia-reperfusion in renal transplantation (Inserm unit U927 – Poitiers
- Development of mouse models for monoclonal immunoglobulin deposition diseases (CNRS UMR unit 6101 – Limoges)
These research topics have led to numerous national and international cooperation arrangements and agreements:
- Groupe coopératif d’étude de la transplantation rénale R. Spiesser (14 French transplantation centers )
- Catholic university of Leuven and the Erasmus hospital – Brussels
- National Amyloidosis Centre, Royal Free hospital – Londres (UK)
- Department of Pathology, Mayo Clinic – Rochester (USA)
- EURAMY : European projet for the study of systemic amyloidoses.
The unit applies state-of-the-art anatomo-pathological techniques in the study of renal biopsies, particularly immuno-marking and electron microscope.
